Anglesey (Ynys Môn)- June 2024

I had read a series of crime books by Simon McCleave featuring DI Ruth Hunter, which got me interested and it was not too far from Leyland, so Maisie and I had a holiday in Anglesey in June staying at a self-catering accomodation in the Tai Hirion Caravan & Campsite, Pentraeth, Isle of Anglesey.

It was just a short walk from Tai Hirion to the ancient Celtic church of St Gredifael, Penmynydd, see below. The church was founded by St. Gredifael in the c6th century AD. The church building mostly dates from c1400. It even retains its original windows. The chapel (on the north side) and the porch were added in the c15th and the roof rebuilt in the c16th. The church holds the tomb of Goronwy ap Tudur Hen, a member of the House of Tudor and ancestor to the Tudor Kings and Queens of England. It is a grade II listed building.
