Portpatrick Hotel

Portpatrick Day 1 – August 2023

For my first day in Portpatrick (Dumfries and Galloway) it was pouring down on the way up, especially through the lakes, but when I got within about 15 miles of Portpatrick, it stopped, became and remained blue sky for the rest of my holiday. As can be seen from the featured image my hotel was on top of the cliffs above Portpatrick Harbour. I walked my little Norfolk Terrier dog, Maisie, down the steep steps to the harbour at least twice a day. The top of the steps outside of the hotel is the start of the Southern Upland Way, running across 214 miles of varied country and finishing at Cockburnspath on the east, near the coast.

The hotel was lovely with stupendous sea views. The photo below is of the Harbour mouth to Portpatrick Harbour, you can just make out the steps to the hotel above the buildings.
