Portpatrick Day 3 – August 2023
I went to Stranraer later in the day but this was a bit underwhelming. Lots of the shops were empty and some boarded up. The Tourist Centre told me that the Ferrys had moved to Cairnryan some 12 years ago as the catamarans used for journeys of Ireland and the Isle of Man moved to fast and the wash form them caused problems.
I walked the first few miles of the Southern Upland Way with Maisie in the morning. Past Portpatrick golf course then it descended to Sandeel beach, pictured in the featured image. I found this quite treacherous as the path went down steeply and at times were just rocks that acted as steps. Maisie, pictured below with her tail down had no problems, however.
