Slovenia 3rd day

In the morning of my third day in Slovenia Vlado drove us to Ptuj. This is the the view over Ptuj  from the castle.  The traditional Ptuj carnival features n=many strange and surreal costumes, some of which are pictured next to me.

We then drove to Pristava near the border with Croatia where we where the Halonga Cultural Society harmonica group played for us. After we were served a dinner of locally produce sausages, kraut and potato followed by cheese filled pancakes. Then we were taken down to the winery accompanied by accordion for a session of tasting various wines being produced. The Vlado and I were taken into their personal wine cellar and were both given a bottle of 2008 vintage Riesling. I was also given a bottle of special 1976 Riesling of a batch of which one was given to President Reagan when he was in Slovenia for a meeting with Gorbachev back in the day.

After that wonderful time, we drove to Ptujska Gora where we took the steep path marked by series of crosses to the magnificent church, Pečnikova kapelica, we went in but there was a service being held. I could only stand at the back in wonder at the magnificence of the Gothic church of the Basilica of Mary the Patron.
